I saw an advert today for a doll (ramping up for Christmas already). This one talks, 'eats' and 'drinks' and produces not just wet from the other end, but also a 'stinky' nappy. (Not sure how, I think you just shovel the goo in at the top and it comes out at the bottom).

Anyway, it set me thinking. There are all these baby dolls, getting more and more realistic. It's about time they brought out a toddler doll that lies down in Tesco and has a screaming tantrum, or kicks you and says you have stupid hair (that was one of nephew Oli's lines).

Then there could be the sulky teenager doll...

(I never liked dolls. I liked soft toys like teddies. And Action Man.)

I eventually gave in and bought one that pretended to drink a bottle and then hurled. My daughter loved it. I'm not sure they need to get any more realistic than that.

That should say burped this is the first time on my phone and therefore don't know how to edit it. Quite a good mistake though.

S'funny, I was thinking the same on Friday whilst at home with jnr. Plenty of ads for realistic dolls that eat, cry, piss and shyte.
And there was even an advert for a play puppy that also shytes. Bizarre.

I saw that. That is one ugly doll!xx(

I really dislike realistic doll (or any other figurine) faces. They are creapy as they are realistic but not necessarily realistcally human.

Cool, does it come with a supply of little plastic bags for the child to practise hanging in shrubs?

There is a stall at Gunwharf that sells realistic babies.

Trouble is they haven't quite got the skin right and they all look cyanosed and extremely unwell

This was not what I expected of a thread with that title...

No, those cost a few grand.

In the US, there is some bizzare craze for 'realistic' baby dolls - like these things cost a fortune - it's not a kids toy, and it's not 'that other sort of toy hinted above'.

Really odd. The "Tiny Tears poo and pee" ones are fine compared to these weird things.
