We have had a lot of posts about reality TV recently, Strictly, The Apprentice, I'm a Celebrity (no your not ) get me out of here.

These programs to me are the worst type of TV garbage I have come across, most of my friends would agree with me, now I can't help observe that they are popular among some people on this forum so I thought a pole is in order as I find the cyclist I know in general agree with me, so is it me gravitating to like minded people as friends and are my cycling buddies & I in a minority? cast your votes.

No, it's you and your friends not being wholly truthful about what you watch on t.v.

Reality TV is mostly rubbish, but there are a few decent examples, usually the first ever series of a show is pretty decent i.e. Big Brother as a social experiment, some of the stranded on a desert island/survival type programmes can be interesting.

Where can I order one of these poles?

The worst are the "scripted reality" ones like Made in Chelsea. They are not true reality in the sense of a fly-on-the-wall documentary, but neither are they real drama with actors. They seem to occupy this strange middle ground and I can't understand why anyone watches them.

I can't vote for No though as there are worse things to watch on the box. If it was a straight yay or nay I'd be right there!
I have never seen this either, but the trailers are always the same. It is a girl telling another girl that some bloke has left with someone else. It always appears to be the same girl.

I'm not sure the space time continuum could cope with that - but I like the cut of your jib!
Wait til you hear my pitch for a Gogglebox of people watching a Gogglebox about people watching Gogglebox.

Throughout, subliminal clips are intercut of the commissioning editors shrieking with laughter/horror and rolling in a pile of money and their own shame.

The "like" button falls an awfully long way short of my appreciation of this, but it's all I have!

Maybe, possibly, no, definitely not, you what, is my answer. I no longer know what's reality tv and what's scripted. Made in Chelsea for instance, wtf is it. There's no question mark there because I require no enlightenment, beyond, it's shoot.

I caught Bad Robots the other night, that was funny. Candid Camera for the 21st century.

Never watched Googlebox, other than the last 20 secs or so t'other day, when one of my offspring stumbled onto it channel hopping. I enjoyed it. It went like this...

She: Was that the last episode of Downton?
He: I $&%*in' hope so.

I'm gonna start a celeb-based cycling prog, where I pit myself against the likes of Sir Bradley, Froomey, etc etc... all the ones from the TdF and Giro and so on... they all get given top of the range bikes, and I am on my 9 yr old Giant roadie. We compete over a 60 mile ride, and the loser gets to keep all the bikes.

I would say that things like Strictly and Masterchef aren't strictly reality, given there's a degree of skill involved. X Factor is polluted by money and simply a 6 month long advert for the Christmas number one, and the other shows are polluted by personality - as in apparently people with decent personalities don't make good telly.

I hate reality TV of any kind. And soaps. I hate both with a vengeance. Cheap and nasty. My mum watches them and when we talk she asks me if I saw this prog or that. She is always astonished when I say no I haven't seen it. Each to his or her own though. They're just not for me

The BBC should sell EastEnders to the highest bidder and be rid of the unpleasant parasite for good.
