The "Have you ridden without lights" thread reminded me of a problem I have. I cycle with my son to primary school, and in bad weather he has lights on his bike. His light is a Smart Superflash, and its mounted on the rear seat stay. I can't mount it on the seat post as the saddle is too low in comparison to the rear wheel to show.

The problem with where I have it mounted is that it points backwards and upwards - directly where I'm cycling. I've resorted to making sure the batteries are not brilliant to prevent myself from being blinded.

Have anyone any ideas how I can get the light to face backwards when mounted on the seat stays? I'll try and get a photo of what I mean later on today in case it isn't clear.

Could you not mount the light upside down (I assume the bottom of the light interferes with the seat stay). That's what I've done on the commute bike. And use a heavy duty rubber band to stop the light from falling out - different light to yours though.

Does he carry a rucksack he can loop it onto? I have sewn heavyduty elastic to a rucksack to take a flashy light in the past.

I guess he has lots of reflective stuff too?
