rear mech explodes

hi,

so today on a 60k ride my 105 rear mech decides to shear clean of the hanger and drop into my spokes. the mech cage fell off and the rear mech cable is sheared and a mess. But the concern is that it appears to have chipped a piece of carbon off my rear wheel drop outs where the quick release skewers drops in. i'm taking it in for a repair but should i be super concerned about the chipped carbon? is my carbon frame landfill?

My rear dropouts are metal on my carbon frame , could possibly be some filler that has chipped between the carbon and metal if your dropouts are metal?!

Have a good look at the "chip". If it is a chunk of Carbon Fiber, personally I'd not be riding that frame again. It would be repairable, but I still wouldn't risk it.

I'd want to see a picture before I could really decide, but a minor chip is unlikely to worry me.

Is the damage limited to a chip out of the dropout plate as you stated earlier or not?
