Rear mech hanger frustration

I've thrown in the towel my son managed to snap his rear mech hanger on his mtb. Can provide a picture of it if neccasery ? Googled the bike which is this...

No longer available was in Evans today and showed them the offending item to which they didn't have a replacement. Salesman did mention a website which I can't remember the name of now. Can anyone here be of any assistance please ?

find the make and model of the bike - then it's easy to find which hanger you need and a retailer selling it

A company with the 'reputation' of Evan's Cycles can't get a replacement hanger for a six year old Dawes - ? Wot - ??

By the look of your photos to me the two parts look the wrong way round in relation to each other. Done a quick photoshop edit.

I presume the darker section on the smaller broken part pushes out? If so what you end up with doesn't look a million miles off of Hanger 25

Yes your photoshop looks correct and agreed it does certainly look more hanger 25 than hanger 27. And yes the darker bit (or rusty bit) does indeed come out.

There are so many hangers, with shapes very close to one another. Unless you can be really sure, I recommend a visit to your LBS. They may have one and, if not, they can probably get you one: one that fits. They are not cheap for what seems a rather small item.

When The Girl bent her mech hanger, the Evans bloke said they ship a spare with each bike in the green folder of stuff. Might be worth a look.

Bought several bikes from Evans and never had a spare hanger with any.

Have used "http://www.bikeaider.co.uk/" a few times , they have been very helpful with the correct hanger sent every time. Can also find them on ebay with hangers at a very reasonable price
