Rear Mudguard & Caliper Fitting

I have a new, extra deep drop, dual pivot brake for the Dawes and plan to fit a rear mudguard at the same time. I can see that the shaped washers go either side of the circular bridge, but where in this setup do you slot in the mudguard bit?

Also any tricks re the DP setup, this is a nutted version, or any online videos on how to?

I've always done it - shaped wahser, mudguard bridge, brakes. Don't know if that is "correct". but it's never caused problems

It doesn't matter much where it goes though on nutted versions like yours I like to install it under the last washer. I don't recall why - probably for ease of access as it allows you to remove the mudgourd without disturbing the brakes too much.

that was my gut thinking, I was even considering whether I could get a second nut on to hold the guard, allowing removal/installation without loosening of brake. The mudguard fitting itself is a plastic one that slides around so I'm not limited by a fixed position.

On my (very limited) experience of dual pivot brakes - just do what you're told in the manufacturers instructions.

That was on Shimano R450 brakes. I was helping a neighbour, and his bike still seems to be stopping OK!

We did have to drill the hole through the forks out a little to fit the bolt through.

If it's a round bridge , a nutted brake caliper and shaped washers then Mickle's said it all. If it's an AK brake fitting and bridge then you probably wouldn't be asking - 'cos it'll only fit between brake and bridge.
