Rear wheel bolt too tight on kids bike

Wondering if someone can give me a advice
We removed the stabilisers on my sons 18 inch single speed bike. The chain started to come off every few yards he rides on it, we tried to move the rear wheel back and tighten the chain, the right side nut is very tight and as a result I am not able to move the wheel back
Can someone give me an advice

Should be just a confident force with a long levered spanner, anticlockwise.

If stumped, just go to your bike shop or even a motor garage or tyre place. I doubt if they would charge.

Didn't you have to remove the wheel nuts to get the stabilisers off?

Looks like the axle is not sitting square between the drop outs, make sure it is when you are tightening the wheel nuts. Also the chain should just have a small amount of play when you are doing this.

If this bike has been used for jumping (and landing) by a previous owner with stunt pegs, the axle may be bent. Once you've applied enough moment/brute force to remove the nut, visually inspect the axle for straightness.

Bit of brute force & ignorance, but only with a correct fitting spanner,

Put bike on floor & hold it, if there is a 2nd person even better, fit a good fitting spanner, put foot on spanner & press down, if that fails (it won't) go to local garage & ask them to put the windy gun on it.

The bike has 18" wheels and is the normal size for a bike park. A previous user is quite likely to have enjoyed it that way. Bike is then bought and stabilisers fitted for a 'learner'.

Sometimes when re-tightening these it's best to tighten the non-drive (left) side first then pull the front of the wheel to the right so as to tighten the chain while you tighten the RH axle nut.
