Recognised dog breed crosses, there are some weird and strange ones (to me).

Had a chat a while back with a chap who had a German Sheprador, a very handsome and lovely boy (the dog, not the chap.)

The real head scratcher for me is that people often ask more for these mongrels than is typically asked for proper breeds with an established pedigree with a documented five or more generations family history that permits research for the risk inherited disorders, some degree of genetic assurance as to the final outcome, etc.

I had a GSD/Black Lab 1st cross back in the 80's absolute nutcase of a dog, Tommy went through several windows (closed) and once through the glass in the back door, bit several people (including me twice) and once got run over by a Marina that he trashed (The dog ran into the road when we got home from the pub after 11, the dog went spinning 10 foot in the air and about 30 yards down the road. We carried him into the house and after a couple of minutes got up and walked to his basket and sat looking very sorry for himself. We offered to call the Police but the driver said "As long as your dog is OK" and left, next day the local Copper arrived and told us the driver had reported the impact and a repair estimate of £700 (1982) but when we explained the time and that the driver had not wanted Police atttendance at the time the officer said "Well I guess that's the price of not losing his licence, don't worry I will have words with him" and we never heard anything more. BTW Tommy was fine but he'd been in midair when the car struck him having just cleared the bonnet of Pete's MGB in his bid for freedom.

I once saw a Collie/Greyhound cross.

What an odd looking thing that was - They were black and white like a collie, but with a Greyhound head and certain other features.
I know it doesn't sound like much, but it was oddly unsettling.

Poor thing though, they were up for adoption at the Dogs Trust and they looked a bit upset about it.

I follow "Girl with the dogs" on Facebook - a Canadian professional groomer who does a lot of rescue-related stuff. She also has cats, but that's incidental here.

A recent video that had me in absolute stitches was when she groomed a pug x GSD.

And yeah, the mum was the GSD. That's one *VERY* determined pug...

Of course, I can't find the video now...

She had very interesting explanation regarding furry dogs v hairy dogs.

I realise I have only ever had furry dogs, and now I know I intend to keep it that way, along with a quality vacuum cleaner.

What's stopping them from providing the pedigrees of to the parents (even though they are of different breeds), giving the documented history you refer to?

Indeed, if you then bred from the resultant cocksetter or whatever you could continue to provide documentation.
