Got a Worcester Bosch at the moment, seems ok, it's about 5 years old, had a Vaillant. in the last house, i fitted that one no problems in the 8 years we where there.

Depends how big your place is of course, and also the water you're supplied, but we got the predecessor of this one for our four bedroomed house and it's been excellent. The fitter recommended it to us over the Vaillant I'd been thinking about (having vague memories that they were supposedly 'the best') - he said that while Vaillants were good boilers, the Worcester Bosch ones were better with (very hard) London water. Put it this way - given our house & where it is, if I had to get a new boiler, I'd probably go with Eddy's suggestion.

quite a small house 2 bedroom 6 radiators so the 24kw version of the Worcester looks like it will do the job

We've got a couple of baxis installed not that long ago by our predecessors. Rather disapointed that both have needed repairs given they're not old and they are noisy ans hunt.

Elsewhere previously had valent & Bosch worcester which were fine in the time we had them. The valents in particular were pretty old and worked fine.

That said previously good brands can get cheaped and trade on past glories

I dont know what British gas charge to fit boilers but their boiler care plan with a yearly service thrown in is a no brainer .

Worcester are good as are Ideal

Dont go cheap. As you will pay later
yeah prices are ranging from £600 - £1200 with the Worcesters being at the top end of that. got a guy going to quote me on 3 boilers so I'll see what he comes up with

Thanks for all the replies

Are you replacing a condensing boiler with a combi boiler or like for like?

We went with the prior to get the tank space but found we had problems with the old pipework for the following year while it all settled down and adjusted to the new pressures but all sorted now and running fine.

We have a three bed semi with a family bathroom and went for a Worcester Bosch I25 Greenstar, in hindsight we should have gone for the I30 as it struggles to fill kitchen sink while the bath/shower is running. One tap will “steal” the majority of the flow leaving the other more like a stream.

20+ year old Vaillant here - someone down the pub reckons the latest Combi's only have a 10 year life so I'm a bit reluctant to renew it atm.
