Hi,

I have had my stinkpad t60 for a good few years and its served me well, and In fact is running win7, 3gb of ram and a 128mb ssd. The only problem is that's its a heavy old beast, so its getting passed on to my Mum for a live of silver* surfing.

So Im after a new lappy. Requirements are...

1-No reflective screens! Important to me, the thinkpad has a great IPS sceen)
2-No need for Huge storage - 128 gb ssd will do me (I know that will be more expensive that a 1tb mechanical)
3-Between 13 to 14 inch screen
4-Decent battery life - 4 hrs min
5-Decent build quality. Its going to be lugged about a lot so don't want it falling to bits.
6-I3 processor at least, i5 would be nice.
7-No fruit logo on the top.

So far I like the look of Samsung Series 9, but I haven't had to look at laptops for such a long time I don't really know who the players are.

Ideally looking to spend up to £800ish, maybe up to £1000 for something REALLY special and a bargain... Like a Lenovo X1 carbon.

Me neither, but I can recommend saveonlaptops as a retailer and it looks like they may have one or two to suit:

I've recently bought a Samsung Series 9 laptop from John Lewis. Special offer price of £750.00 and the deal includes a free Samsung Galaxy Tab2 7.0" tablet and a free smartphone, Galaxy Mini. Waiting for the phone to be delivered, but the tablet came with the laptop and is a great device.

Very happy with the laptop, less happy with Windows 8, but that is another story. Laptop is very nicely made, as good as the fruit flavoured one we also own. Hard drive (SSD) is a tad small in capacity but if it fills up (unlikely, in reality) I'll just fit a bigger drive.

Hi, Many thanks for the recommendation. So far it looks like the one I will be going with.

One question, you mention a free tab and smartphone. I can only see the free tab listed on the John lewis site. Am I missing it or has the promotion ended?

Cheers, Paul.

It's still there. You have to wait 10 days then submit proof of purchase, fill n a form and wait. At least that's what I've done.
