Ever since we moved to the current Fab towers the important connection between my admitedly aged Audiolab 8000A and Rogers Studio 1a speakers has to my shame been made with cheapo bell wire.
I've used solid core and heavy multicore in the past to good effect, but been able to hide the cable OK, but now I've redocorated etc, that solution ain't gonna cut it with the Mrs.
Thoughts?

What distance u need? Bearing in mind if you're bi wiring you'll need 4 times the distance from your amp to the furthest speaker. Obviously they should be symmetrical.

Standard 79-strand is good and most decent shops will have it. Never go solid core in my view. 79 is good enough unless you are prepared to pay for crazy marketing stuff. There is merit in vibration damping the cable but it's easy as a DIY project. Some top end cables are worth their money in my view if the rest of the system is good enough. Which means valves... Lol...

One more comment, again my own opinion but based on a lot of blind testing, usually with a lot of red wine.

Never go for cables which are mixed metals. They conduct at slightly different speeds and introduce a phase effect which makes them zingy, ironically what some systems need but no point trying to correct in this way. Simple is king and a lot cheaper.

The only reason to pay for more expensive cables is purity. Simple and pure means less in the way of the signal. But it's cheap to get to simple and expensive to get to pure.

By the way, nothing wrong with that kit and don't let anyone persuade you that aged means needing replacement. Those Rogers speakers will be full and warm I'd imagine. I haven't heard the Audiolab.

Do you play vinyl?

Try this.
CSA 2.5 mm2 , 79 / 0.2mm 2 Core and use two for each speaker
from here...

Anything costing much more is getting a bit psychosomatic.

I just checked and I have between 3 and 4 metres of 79 strand doing nothing. Welcome to it if its any use, but actually it's probably not even worth posting.

If you're considering anything more expensive I'd urge you to check the materials it's made from and steer away from anything plated. Manufacturers are great at making something that sounds "different" and then charging a fortune for their magic dust. In almost all cases it sounds different because its altering the sound. Keep it simple as possible is my advice.
