Recommend me a Dashcam

Does anyone on here use a dashcam in their car? I'm off to France in the next few months, and whilst I can get by in the French language, I wonder if there may be some use in having a dashcam in the van, just in case.
Any recommendations?

I use my bike cam on the passenger pillar, currently an intempo action cam. Needs manual reset every few hours as it doesn't auto delete but I stop for rest breaks anyway.

Might be worth asking your insurers, as some will give a reduction for certain approved models. Could be win-win.
