Recommend me a LBS for Bromptons

Hello,

I'm getting quite convinced my LBS is not actually that good at caring for Bromptons.

Can someone recommend me another in Manchester / Stockport?

Ideally I'd like them to know about Bromptons (which it seems is not a given even if they are a dealer).

I have seen recommendations for Bicycle Doctor on the LBS recommendation thread, and I know they do sell Bromptons. Wills Wheels is also recommended but it seems they don't sell Bromptons so not sure that's my best shot, similarly Cookson Cycles (and they're also a bit far), also Withington Cycles... Anyone recommend Ken Foster's Cycle Logic maybe?

Any others? Not so convinced by my local Evans either, and Edinburgh Bicycle Coop doesn't do Bromptons.

Thanks!

Brompton seem to be very happy to work with almost any dealer - most LBS carry just one or two main brands but they all seem to carry Brompton. The good news seems to be that Bromptons don't require a huge amount of care...however

My LBS in Brentford is just wonderful ...but I guess that's as much use to you as a chocolate teapot...

Hi,

When I was looking for Konas locally, there was a list of dealers on their website. It would be worth contacting Brompton to find out the dealers close to you.

Is that Wizzbike in High Street?
I'm from Ealing and always go to them rather than my local BS in Ealing.

Should be down there next week to collect a Brompton P6R bought on the C2W scheme.

Yes wizzbike! I also live in Ealing but at the lbs there they're so bloody rude I'd rather give my money to h******ds. I've found wizzbike to be great however, just wish they weren't so narrowly focused on trek/bontrager...

I notcied a few bromptons on the bicycle doctor website the other week (fallowfield), I haven't been there yet but I do know people in the area who do use the place.

That's where I ended up yesterday lunchtime and it was great! I think I've found my new LBS then....

For anyone else who finds this thread later on, "Old Rob" helped us (as did someone else who's name I can't quite figure out compared to the pics on the website, I'm hazarding it must have been Huw?).

Old Rob has a Brompton of his own and was very helpful with the myriad of questions we had accumulated between the two of us.

I'm jealous.

Is that an off the shelf one?
Or was your spec. unique - if so how long did you wait?

(Promise once I've got mine, I'll stop moaning about the wait and start writing something more constructive/entertaining)

It's not off the shelf - SON dynamo, firm rear suspension and Schwalbe Marathon tyres ordered.
I placed the order in first week of July and it should be ready next Thursday. This might be a shorter wait than normal as John at Wizzbikes said they would try to get one of their stock orders already in the pipeline changed to my spec.
