Recommend me a starter...

I'm designated starter maker for a dinner party of 6 tomorrow night.
It has to be reasonably simple as I'll be transporting it from my place to another house about half a mile away.
I can cook when I'm there as long as it takes only 15 minutes or so.
Simple but a touch of wow...
...any suggestions?

Add some lime juice and serve on warm rustic bread with butter with a turn of pepper.

I made smoked mackerel paté yesterday, as it happens. With cottage cheese and lemon juice so I'll give that a miss this time.

A little bowl of beetroot soup with a swirl of cream in it, with rustic brown bread.

I was served this the other day by a friend, and it was delicious and looked spectacular.

Not a bad idea...
...in the lead so far!

avocado and smoke salmon with dill sauce and a balsamic drizzle on the avocado.

And that's the closest I get to helpful.

Very crispy bacon, a slice of black pudding on a bed of rocket with a honey and mustard dressing.

Big old jumbo prawns cooked in chilli and spring onion on a bed of noodles.

Shred some smoked mackerel, mix it into Philadelphia cheese, serve on brown toast.
