Recommend me an inexpensive fountain pen.

I almost exclusively write with a fountain pen and have done for over 30 years.
Work is taking me off to Russia in the next weeks and then onto Thailand. I don't much fancy taking the Mont Blanc or my decent Waterman to either place.
I've just bought a cheap watch to wear, but what basic but good budget Fountain pen do you recommend?
How cheap can I go?
Needs to be an internet purchase.

I've used Lamy pens for years and found them very good. About £10-12 frm WH Smith or Partners, and the cartridges are cheap too

A former colleague of mine has a Mont Blanc he claims cost him £2,000 and costs him £400 for a bi-annual service! He also says he has a substitute pen costing £800 he takes with him if there's a risk of losing the dear one. I used to ask him why he didn't save all that money and get one free from Ladbrokes.

I assure you there is. And I equally assure you he hasn't spent less on his pen than I have in Ladbrokes since I have never spent a penny in one. I obtain mine - and they are free - from the Ladbrokes area under the stand of my football ground. You don't have to 'go in' to it, you do have to walk past to get to your seat and there they are, free pens.

I've got several expensive pens, none of which I ever use.
My daily writing pen, is and has been for years, a very cheap Parker Jotter fountain pen.

Available for about £6.00 in most large stationers they're a cracking little pen, both me and the wife swear by them.

If you do get one - try and get the fully stainless one, they seem to write better than the plastic ones for some reason.

If you put a cartridge in to a fountain pen before flying, would it leak in the lower pressure on the plane?

Not in my experience of Kaweco Sport pens nope.
