As the saying goes, "buy cheap, buy twice..."

I doubt you will be happy with a lessor pair after BG's, people that haven't experience any better than budgets may tell you otherwise, but it is like someone who has never ridden carbon advising others to avoid it.

i have those mitts and they are dreadful - theres just no padding on them at all

I got a pair of SPEG Gel-Venti gloves a year or 2 back after my Spesh BG ones got road rash (OK ripped in a fall ).

They were on a 1/2 price special and have been very good. Are they better than the Spesh ones ? For the price I paid - definitely. At full price ? Ah, now you're asking the awkward question.

Just ensure the Evans gloves have gel pads. Not all Spesh BG ones do.

Depends how old your Spesh BGs were? I had some, prob purchased about 6 years ago & the newer BG ones I dont find as good I got a pair of the Speg ones & they are good value if you get them at a reduced price I've tried many pairs at bike shops, but not found anything as good as my old Spesh BGs
