Hi all,

My Bacchetta Giro 20 was regretfully stolen this morning, if anyone is based in the Bristol area please keep an eye out for this odd contraption, or if you deal in recumbents please watch out for anything that may come up for sale. Unlike most Giros this one has a fibreglass shell seat. Apologies for the not-great-quality picture.

Many thanks,

Ian

I've copied it into the Recumbent and HPV section.

Hope you get it back !

Those sucking scumbags will find it difficult to sell without being noticed. They are usually too stupid to describe or know enough about recumbents to appear genuine. Stick framed bikes like the Bacchetta are difficult to lock securely.

When my butchers bike was stolen recently, my beloved started a facebook campaign i.e this was stolen please post on your page etc with photos I got the bike back within two hours of this. I know it was only kids that stole my bike but like your bike it stood out and therefore made it unrideable without anyone noticing it and pointing (even to the point where I get hassle now for riding my own bike since I got it back[I don't mind]) It could be well worth a go. This was after the police had been looking for 24 hours.

all the best

I'll watch out too but I don't see that many around (but I do like seeing them) and I haven't seem my most regular one who used to be a regular on the A38 about 8pm in the evening for quite some time.

Call off the search party everybody, the Police have found my bike! Dumped in somebody's back garden, evidently it was harder to ride than they thought.

Thanks for everyone's help and encouraging words!

I was just wondering the same thing ... how the hell did they get away on it if they've never ridden a bent before? :giggle:

Great news - bet you're well chuffed. :hyper:

Well Giro 20 is one of the easiest SWB bents to ride. It took me all of... ermm... 5 seconds to learn how to ride one. Now had they stolen a M5 Low-Racer CrMo... I think they'd have plenty of blood for DNA tracing down the road.

Chuffed I am indeed! It wasn't that far away as the Crow flies. The pc didn't say it was damaged then again I doubt he had much to compare it to. Fingers crossed on that one. And it took me about 5 seconds to learn to ride the Giro too, then again I'd ridden a highracer recumbent before so it was a doddle in comparison.
I had assumed initially it had been taken away in a truck as part of a specialist job, or even a boat since I live on the docks. It seemed such a conspicuous bike to just cycle away on, particularly if you can't ride it well!
Main thing is it's back though. Thanks again to everyone, I must post on here more often.
