I cycled in along the A23 from Brixton this morning and witnessed some pretty appalling driving by motorcyclists and scooterists.

Then, as I cycled along Blackfriars Road, I saw the police out in force pulling over motorcyclists and scooterists. Not sure why although that section on the run up to the southbound side of Blackfriars Bridge is prone to some drag racing. One motorcyclist seemed to be having a laugh with the police but a couple of scooterists seemed pretty hacked off.

Sadly, just over the north side of the bridge there was more police attending a motorcyclist that was lying on the ground. A white van parked just by him (which could have been coincidence).

That is the worst part of my commute, heading north from Blackfriars Bridge. Traffic is very congested and those on two wheels - motorised and otherwise - are often kamikaze-like.

Indeed. A lot of RLJ'ing this morning (although probably no more than usual) and some idiot that thought it would be a good idea to proceed down the inside of a stationary bus that was sitting behind two more stationary buses. I genuinely didn't think there was enough room for him to squeeze through. Later on (he RLJ'd, I didn't) he pushed me out into traffic as I was passing him and he swung out without looking.

On the basis of the behaviour of the majority in any particular category, the most sensible people on the roads this morning were motorists. And on that route, that's really saying something.

emergency stopped for a cyclist turning right through two lanes of stopped cars, only because I'd braked hard for a car turning right at speed (he saw me alright) was i able to stop for him

I stopped in contact with him, he had to move his front wheel to avoid mine, I waited for an apology and then said 'nothing to say?'

got told to **** off, unbelievable
