No not grease, it was pink and sticky, stickier in fact than sticky the stick insect stuck on a sticky bun.

I'd be a bit careful applying threadlock to small fasteners, socket heads in small sizes can round out quite easily.
For those that are interested, the hexagonal socket headed fastener is a poor design for transferring torque. The appropriately named Torx fastener is much, much better.

If you must use it, choose the lowest strength.

No I won't bother, I'll leave it alone.
I've always found that there is threadlock on the bolts when I replace the original jockey wheels so I presume it has to be there for a reason and always replace it using a low strength red colour threadlock. It would be a disaster for a jockey wheel to come loose miles from home when by simply aplying a drop of threadlock would have saved the day

.I have never, ever, ever had a jockey wheel come off, and I do regularly remove them to clean and re-grease. Threadlock isn't necessary. I even put a little grease on the pin's threads !
