In a pipe-dream like attempt (nothing has happened yet) Mrs wheres_my_beard is thinking about refurbishing a 1980's Post Office bike her step-father has given her after a garage clear out.

One of the main things she would really like it to have creme/cream or ivory tyres (not just white walled). Unfortunately the bike has 650B tyres, and I haven't been able to find any desirable tyres for this size that don't cost loads; some Panaracers and Grand Bois Hetre cost £80+ a pair, which seems steep.

Are 650B rims compatible with other (cheaper!) tyre sizes?

Mrs wheres_my_beard is not one to idly spend time looking at random websites, especially about bikes, but that site is one she has frequented.

Many times.

She had hoped to get some Delta Cruisers or Fat Franks, but they wouldn't fit

I'll direct her to that page, I'm sure it will cheer her up.

"The ride quality of the Grand Bois Hetre tires is truly superb. Better than Schwalbe Delta Cruisers. Better than the famous Fat Frank andBig Apple tires. Faster too. It is worth getting 650B wheels just to get these tires. They are cushy, stable, have excellent puncture protection, and are just as fast as narrower road tires, yet can go off-road. Almost too good to be true!"

Praise indeed!! Thanks :-)
