It's made more difficult by the chance of being stopped at the lights but hows 9 minutes for a target?

EDIT : Actually make that 8 ;)

I just checked my gps data for the that part and I did it in 9m 25s averaging 18.5mph over 2.75 miles, but I didn't realise we were going for a fast lap for the first couple of minutes so I could probably get that down to 8 mins with a good run of lights.

But not on my single speed with rack

I'm not sure I'll make this tuesday yet, as it's football night. I'll know tomorrow afternoon so check back here before you leave work.

Hmm... This is sounding a bit on the quick side. Could be, um, interesting.

Did I mention I'll also have a panier, full mudguards and about 5kgs of road muck on the bike. Not to mention not having a rest day off the bike for the past couple of weeks.

Give me a bit more time and I'll come up with some more excuses for keeping the speed down

I selected the section on my ridewithgps track. 2.9 miles in 9:35 with an average of 18.1 and a max of 30.8. Happy to push tomorrow night but also more than happy just to use it as a social leg stretch. Could do a couple of laps warmup with one quick blip with Chester Road as the start/finish/meeting point.

That's what I was thinking. Burn a few calories without going too crazy!

When I used to ride with the club and trained most mornings round the park, I was always aiming for sub 9 minutes, which I saw as being pretty good. Problem is the damn traffic lights. I have often wondered why there is not some event once a year where they close the park to traffic and hold races and fun rides...

A small bunch of us (us, being inline speedskaters) try to do this every Monday evening after work as a means of cross training. Due to time constraints, we only usually manage about 4 laps.

If you're anything like me, you'll probably look out for the bike rather than the cyclists....so keep an eye out for a "train" consisting of a white and grey Condor CX, black and grey B Twin, white and grey Trek (usually leading!), white and red Specialized (currently off the road) and a black Scott.

These are loosely arranged here:

Feel free to say hello, and if overtaking at an attainable speed, don't be surprised if we try to tag along :-)

I'm hoping to make this tonight, but work may well scupper those plans. If I can make it I'll do clockwise laps until I spy you and can come join...
