If you look like a wimp, you will get the treatment. If you are assertive and give off bad vibes you will generally be left alone. I'm normally a polite and friendly type, but when riding I am a hostile bastard. It seems to work.

My experience and observation of driving in Northern Ireland, Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland is (remarkably!) that drivers in Northern Ireland are less aggressive in general, more likely to wave other road-users though and to let drivers join the the road from side roads. Perhaps our roads are just quieter?

Or perhaps you are so pissed off with all the sectarian crap (like I am with this retard ccomputer) then you don't want to harm anyone else ever again!!

North Lancs here - drivers almost always very considerate.

The closest passes I've had recently were on a single track road over the Bealach na Ba in Scotland*, where most drivers slowed down a bit beside us until we could swerve into the next passing place - they could usually get past us without us having to stop (so slowly were we going).

But a bunch of t**ts in Citroen 2CVs (I think they were French) couldn't wait - oh no. They had to put their offside wheels on the gravel on the other side of the road and squeeze past us with inches to spare - and us not managing a very straight line anyway due to the hill.

So locals

Tourists

*from the Applecross side. We had to stop and rest a couple of times , but we didn't walk any of it!:wahhey:
