The internet has brought us some incredible benefits. Have a look at these sites:

Track any ship in the world. I wonder if there are more or fewer ships now than there would have been 100 years ago?

Track any large aircraft in the world.

See where in the world people have got the energy, time and money to run around for fun or buy expensive bikes and ride around for fun.

We have been having problems with television reception since the leaves have appeared on the rather large Sycamore directly in line from our aerial to transmitter, so I employed a redundant aerial we have in the loft but moved it to the opposite end of the house from the chimney mounted one, so far so good, the strange thing is it is pointing slightly off from neighbours aerials and our chimney mounted one, you may be wondering why I posted this in this thread, well I used the very good website to line up the aerial.

Click on the calculator to align your aerial.

and just a random one, but hilarious because of its effect on your vision (but you will recover in a minute or two, I promise):

Bloody hell, I wasn't expecting that. The walls of my office are bulging and moving!

Yes, that has given me a distance from home to office of 18.9 miles, far better than the 21 to 25 miles if I drive it. The only problem is that it takes an incredibly steep climb out of Blackburn town centre and then the Roman road, which as ColinJ will know is narrow with some poor sight lines, a couple of short sharp river valley crossings and a real rat-run during commuter hours. Then it also climbs over Affetside, another significant hill.

I use lightning maps .org whenever there's a storm forecast.
I had planned a forum ride to Wray last year but thunderstorms were forecast for the area so I put the ride back from the Saturday to the Sunday. I checked out what was happening on our route on the Saturday and this is what we avoided!!!
