Tail End Charlie

Well, write it down boy ......
I'll attend my local service wearing my poppy. Important to remember those fallen and others impacted by war. I'll also observe the silence at the actual time.

Err the 11th is a Tuesday......................They may well have services of remembrance on the Sunday but the 2 minute silence is on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month

That's a very narrow view. From Wiki, first some history:

The Archbishop of Westminster proposed that the second Sunday in November should be named Remembrance Sunday in commemoration of both World Wars, a suggestion which was endorsed by the Home Office in January 1946.[8] In June of that year, the prime minister, Clement Attlee, announced in the House of Commons that "the Government felt that this view would commend itself to all quarters of the country. I am glad to say that it has now found general acceptance here and has been approved by The King."[9]

Then what happens on Sunday:
The national ceremony is held in London at the Cenotaph on Whitehall, starting with two minutes' silence at 11am and concluding with the end of The Nation's Thank You procession at 1:30 p.m.[10]

Local ceremonies:
...The start and end of the silence is often also marked by the firing of an artillery piece.[16] A minute's or two minutes' silence is also frequently incorporated into church services.[17]

Without very much effort I could take part in 6 silences, starting last weekend in Rusland (don’t ask why theirs is early*) Barrow in Furness, Sunday morning church and memorial, Ulverston afternoon church and memorial, finally 11 Nov 11,00, if I wanted to.

*Edit: apparently it’s combined with All Souls’ Day to remember all dead, not just war dead.

Was somebody pissed in distress when they hoisted this? For pity's sake, it's not too difficult to learn the correct way up anyway, but when the flag has actual words on it, there's no excuse! Seen yesterday in Sibthorpe, Vale of Belvoir.
