Removing left crankset?

When removing the left crankset, after removing the dustcap, Which way do you turn the nut? clockwise or anti-clockwise?
I have done this many times before but can't remember. I figure as it is on the left, then it should be clockwise. But I can't shift mine.
I'me sure the lockring is clockwise.
Any help appreciated.

the nut undoes anticlockwise as normal.

the pedal and BB undo the 'wrong' way

Removing cranks.

Just to let you know, I got it off. The drive side nut unscrews anticlockwise, the Lock ring and cone unsrews clockwise.
I got the bottom bracket out now I have a new problem, I can't find a 129mm x 28 bottom bracket. I mayl have to try to do with a 127mm.
The bike is 25 years old.
But still runs like a dream.

NOT on the left side it doesn't.

just remember my handy ditty.

"right is right but left is wrong, unless it's a bottom bracket in which case it's right after all"

it's a bit of a crap ditty, isn't it?

interesting; I am pretty sure both bolts - the ones holding the cranks to the BB (Shimano) are regular right hand thread - lie what S.A. said.
