Renault Captur

Well, I have done it. Went to my local Renault dealer yesterday and ordered a brand new Captur. Blue body and black roof, dynamic s model to be delivered on 18 March, when I retire from my driving school. It is going to be a long wait!!

After spending nigh on 20 years in the motor trade I wouldn't have a Renault anything as a gift TBH.

I'm not against French cars per se, in fact I spent 10 years at a Peugeot dealership and have an ingrained fondness for the marque, but whenever a Renault went through the workshop it seemed to need one of everything, and the parts costs, (compared to their rivals), where astronomical. Renault Megane Scenic window regulators that where IIRO £250 yet appeared to made from tin foil spring to mind.

Quality may well of have changed since Renault tied in with Nissan, but I don't know if it has so I still wouldn't bother TBH.

Just telling it how it's been IME, no point sugar coating things is there.

If gavroche had started a thread saying 'Renault Captur Ordered' then I wouldn't have replied, simple as that.

You are entitled to your own opinion but Renault are still producing cars and since their partnership with Nissan, are going in the right direction. How many

And the Clio and the Captur are more fun than a barrel of monkeys .... Renault are doing something right ....

I've had 3 Renaults, all better specced than the over-priced and over-hyped VW equivalents (and I have had VWs too). All ended up doing monumental mileage with no problems except for the usual stuff which wears out on any car, all good MPG. The one negative I did find was that some things could have been better quality in daft areas. Example being the back of the rear seats when folded down. But I enjoyed and rated all the Renaults I've had.

I had a Renault 4 when I was 18 and it was ace! The only French car I've owned, hope the Captur is as much fun.

Renaults, particularly the electric components, have a dreadful reputation in the trade.

That's been acquired over many years, the newer ones might be better.

Motor traders are almost as conservative and narrow minded as cyclists, so Renault's bad reputation will remain for many years.

That was true up to 2007. Renault now use Nissan electronics so should be reliable. An AA man told me that.
