Repairing cracked mudguards

Hi

In the past I used araldite to repair cracked Bluemels mudguards.

Please can anyone give me tips on repairing modern silver type. Crack from centre to edge for 5cms.

How old is it? There's been a recent thread (either on here or bike radar) of folks complaining to SKS of them breaking within a year and getting replacement parts.

Not SKS, same consistency though.

Before you do anything else drill a little hole at the end of the crack to halt its progress.

And before you put the drill away, depending on the shape of the mudguard at the crack it's often possible to 'stitch' it together with tiny zip-ties. For a less 'frankenstein's neck' look, I've also used regular super-glue and then reinforced the back of the repair with self adhesive aluminium tape.
