Hi- have split the rear rim on my SPEED TR - 20" 28H 406x17 doublewalled kinetix comp - cant seem to get a exact replacement - its a few years old model now - sending some pics
1. is there a replacement out there somewhere?
2. will I have to go for a smaller size 28H rim and build it up?
3. looking at it can it be "rebuilt" do you think maybe ?

You should be able to get a replacement okay, SJS are good, and get it rebuilt by a competent wheel builder.

To expand upon that, the width of the tyre should be between 1.5 and 2.5 times the width of the rim. Unless you're running 1 inch tyres you'll be fine.

Hi Doc- ok - im thinking of running the 406x15 rim on the rear and the still the original 406x17 on the front both running 20x1.95 tyres- does this sound ok?

The Speed TR has Shim dual drive- the new rim wil hav to be fitted with the dual drive hub- do you see any probs or just a standard rebuild with mayb new spokes???

Cheers
