Many people have mentioned about reporting company's drivers to them but I have never actually done this. I have had many dangerous occurences with vans but have never decided to send the video to the carpet or cleaning company.

Do reporting driver to the company actually have benefits? Or does it just releive a bit of stress having the knowledge that they will look at the email but probably not do anything about it?

I've complained to the First buses and had good feedback.

I always report company drivers if it's bad enough, good companies take it seriously bad companies do not, even though there is specific health and safety legislation with regards company vehicles as pointed out in a recent thread on CC.

The last one took a strange turn, ESS Swindon, someone using a managers email address replied stating I was a criminal for taking someone's photo without permission, I'll be following that one up soon.

I've had mixed results.

The bigger companies generally don't tell you much or give you much feedback on what is happening. That's generally due to the way they are laid out. They do however have a better method of dealing with issues that arise.

The smaller companies generally give you more feedback on the issues. Most I have had have been very good and in fact i've had some of the managers replying to me, they know that their company name is an advert for them and any vehicles on the road are potential advertising. They want their drivers to be perfect.
On the other hand I've had a few smaller companies just have a complete go at me. Complaints may be handled by only one person and they will dismiss that cyclists can be on the road etc...

The next question is how to approach?
Be up front about the video or let the driver dig them self a hole?

I no longer mention the video in complaints, so far it has not made any difference as the last three, but one, occasions the companies have acted on my complaint in a manner I found satisfactory.

You should email that manager back and inform him that if there are any CCTV cameras then his photo has probably been taken sixty times on his way to work and back again and that he absolutely must contact the Police immediately stating that he wants to press charges on every camera operator for taking his picture illegally also mention the ones that film him in shops when he goes shopping and ask if he would like to report them as well.
 Always fight idiots with pure and simple logic.

It wasn't the manager, it was someone using their email address, the writer may have been unaware that a signature file was automatically added to the email or were just pain stupid.

The AA have only given me a VERY general reply to an incident I reported to them, despite several requests from me for a full response. I'm dissapointed.

There is a dirty trick you can play!

Email the company and ask for an explanation.

The drivers should be interviewed and they will then tell a bunch of lies.

That is when you let them know there is a video and point out that their driver is not only dangerous, but dishonest as well.

The managers hate being lied to and having to apologise because they have been misled.

One case was a classic, but very close left hook. When interviewed the driver the driver claimed I was cycling eratically on and off the pavement, and had ignored both his rsence and signals by jumping off the kerb in front of him while he was turning. He had had to avoid me!

The video then showed me in a perfectly straight line, with no deviations. The driver then left hooked.

The manager replied with an apology and the driver no longer works for the Company
