Reporting scrotes on illegal ebikes

A lot of people without licence or insurance drive about very carefully in their cars.

Being careful doesnt make it right, or the consequences any less unpleasant if something goes wrong. They're only not affecting anyone until they suddently are.

Problem here in Bristol, frequently get buzzed by ninja-mask clad scrotes on souped up ebikes. You can't hear them coming until the last minute with that 'veeeeeeee' sound. They love to pull wheelies in rush hour traffic, I just think of it as natural selection.

I don't see why food delivery riders can't use legal e-bikes, maybe their catchment area is too big to deliver hot food at the legal speed?

I suspect that their pay rate is so low they have to be as quick as possible to take as many jobs as possible. I have no idea what someone pays to have a takeaway delivered but whatever it is it has to be divvied up between the company and the rider so I imagine the rider can't get very much.

Frankly when I visit Newcastle city centre the delivery riders, whether legal or not, scare me. They're on and off pavements, into pedestrianised areas with absolutely no warning. You never know when one is going to come up behind you or dart across in front of you. If I'm scared how will an older person, someone using a walking aid or someone with poor sight feel?

I read an article on Yahoo about a courier who lost a mate in a house fire caused by a dodgy Li battery charger. A lot in the 'gig' economy can't afford proper ebikes, so soup up cheaper ones with additional batteries taped onto the frame, use dodgy chargers from ebay. I'm a fire warden at work and part of our training was watching a video presentation by an ex-fireman on Li battery fires...practically impossible to put out. I won't order from Deliveroo as a matter of principle. Once got passed by one of their moped riders on the B2B cyclepath thinking if he put his hazard lights on, it magically made it legal for him to be there.

Using a "bike" requires no vehicle details to be entered when they sign up.

The fact that it might be an illegal electric bike they intend using isn't asked about. As for their riding habits/style, seen in Leeds last Wednesday a Deliveroo rider going head on with a bus through a set of lights(the wrong way, on the wrong side of the road) forcing the driver to have to stop.
