Hi all

My brother-in-law and I are planning a "10 countries in 10 Days" ride in September, by flying to Milan and cycling back to the UK, via ferry from Rotterdam. As such, i thought it wise to ask this great pool of cycling knowledge and expereince, for any tips on accommodation/routes etc.

Our approximate route will be: Milan Bergamo Airport> Liechenstien> South Germany> Strasbourg> Luxemburg> Rotterdam> Hull> Sheffield. About 850/900miles all in.

So any advice welcome, but specifically comments welcome on:
  • Cycle friendly routes through the Alps (north to south)
  • Any accommodation tips (exact route still TBC)
  • Flying into Bergamo airport with bikes. Tips? Nearby accommodation?
  • Weather? We're hoping it still still be summer like....
Like I say - all advice/comments welcome.

Hi,
so I'm currently planning a Geneva to Tuscany trip for and of May and found info that may help you:

1) look at veloland switzerland for routes through switzerland, the link being a north south route.
2) I picked up a couple of books, lonely planet's cycling in Italy which has various north italy route suggestions and the Ciccerone book for switzerland that also has info on the 9 major routes through switzerland (sim to veloland website).

Re flights & bikes, this thread is useful - I think there are others in the archives too.
