There's no answer to the Road Tax thing that can be given in the context of a road side debate, that level cognitive dissonance is too much for the poor dears.

Its even something that my dad believes in. I am trying to make him understand but it is just falling on deaf ears.

The feeling of "paying for the roads" is very strong among car drivers, it costs a lot of money outside of VED which adds to the feeling of entitlement.

who control such life changing machines

I dont like this bit; makes you out to be a bit of a drama queen...

People who control such life changing machines should be up to date with the current legislation and basic knowledge of the highway code

I would re-word this bit to read something like:

'Professional drivers such as those who drive the Arriva buses should be up to date with the current highway code. The video submitted clearly shows that the Arriva representatives are not up to date and this should be addressed. Failing this, I fear* of the consequences to other road users'

*change as you please.

I'd either delete that sentence or, if you really want to keep it, change it to something like:

"People who drive public service vehicles should be up to date with the current legislation and have a proper knowledge of the highway code."

The 'life-changing machines' part comes across as a bit melodramatic.

Good luck.

I think the driver giving you the finger would be the least of my worries if I was the Arriva employee dealing with this complaint yet that was what he decided to deal with and ignore the threats and dangerous lack of knowledge from his drivers , I think you are farting against thunder with this company and in future if they drive dangerously just take the footage to the police and let them have a word .

Okay, I have sent the amended email. It was lucky that I had a response today because I was just preparing to send the main Arriva customer service the complaint as I hadnt heard anything.

I don't these people could even loosely be described as professional. Commercial, i'd say.

I think that's a fair point, they've swept under the carpet the employee who makes up stuff about cycle lanes being mandatory. Presumably that jumped-up little Napoleon is still trundling around labouring under the same misapprehension. The reply ignores that, ignores the implied threat, and seems to be saying:

Please don't approach our drivers, as there's a risk they will be exposed as galloping cocklords who don't know squit about road traffic law on Youtube.

Matthew, like a freshly felled fruit tree, I'd let it lie now.

You got cross, chased the guy down, elicited some ill-tempered and ignorance-ridden burblings from ill-educated and boorish types.

You posted your anger online. You posted a email to the company.

They replied.

I'd let it lie now.

Hugely entertaining for those of us with a touch of the troll about us, but this is going very soon to become tiresome even for the serious-minded and it will avail you precisely nought.
