am i the only one that sit's their ass on the ground when they can't find a place to rest?

i have a tendancy to sit on the ground and have a break/rest etc at random points, on my exploring ride earlier i sat next to a road twice and sat my fat ass down and started vaping lol

just curious if any one else does the same

I tend to look for benches or bus stops and keep off the ground. Ticks are quite prevelent in Denmark and so I try to keep out of the grass. I have discovered that if you see a bus stop or bench 50 m off your route, go and sit on it. The next one you see is bound to be miles away.

On my regular routes i have my favourite stopping spots . For example there is a bench that i use a lot to stop have a diet coke and watch the world go by . My family now refer to it as Mikes bench . " Oh look Mike theres someone using your bench " . Is often the cry when we pass. There is also a stone wall i use , but i cant recall just sitting on the ground . I have however collasped on the ground in a heap after a hard struggle up a hill.

I find a full stop suits me.

Carbon fibre... LMAO!!!
If the ride is long enough to warrant a sammich and flask of tea then I'll find a quiet spot and plonk my bottom down and relax for a bit. Otherwise my only stops are for the odd photo or traffic lights etc.
I ride so slow that actually stopping to enjoy the scenery doesn't offer a better view

I like Skol

A Minging Manc...
When I was young and foolish I would ride my mountain bike up onto the moors and once suitably knackered find a comfy patch of grass or heather to flop down on. Here I would lie for 10-15 minutes watching the planes fly over in the clear blue sky while the sunshine dried my perspiration. The silence was stunning, only broken by the occasional bird cry and the distant dull rumble of motors and machinery drifting up from the industrial valleys nearby. BLISS.

Now I am older and more sensible/scared I daren't do this because everyone keeps talking about ticks and Lyme disease

I also don't feel like I can afford to waste time so frivolously as there is always seems to be some pressing need for me to get home

I will still sit down wherever is dry if needed, grass, stones, logs, clean tarmac are all fair game.

I still do it, as you say it's heaven, and yes I've dug an awful lot of ticks out over the years, far and away the vast majority related to a previous job as a plant health inspector, occupational hazard.
