I'm sat (since 6am) watching to make sure systems don't die and stop us taking phone calls from desperate teenagers. Would be happier without the lightning outside, all our computer systems are annoyingly electric :-) .

That was a mahoosive clap of thunder and lightning strike about 5 mins ago..
There were some serious rumbles in Eltham, where our Clearing is based, although we have some additional/DR in Greenwich. Seem to have survived it all although I made a statistics fropah which may have left my Director with egg on his face, kind of glad it's not really part of my job.

Oh my eldest got A* Biology A Maths and A* Art.

She is taking a year out to build funds because I can't afford nor do I particularly want to fund her next 4/5 years in University. She is working in Lush in London and is loving every minute of it, on a decent wage for an 18 year old and living the life. I have a feeling she might blow out University and stick at working. And you know what it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I somehow feel it should but it doesn't. I am dead proud of her whatever she decides to do with her life.

My daughter took a couple if years out, has travelled and worked to get funds together for Uni. She took a philosophy a and a/s level this year to up her grades (all distance learning with no tutor as such). To her delight and mine she had got into her university of choice, Goldsmiths and now has student life to look forward to.
I am most relieved as her plan B was travelling around Columbia.
