Lancaster, eh? Nice choice... highest suicide rate in England apparently... but don't let that put you off.

I applied there wanting the great outdoors and to get away from noise/city to concentrate on my Degree... ended up going to Manchester instead, which is reknowned for its location far away from noise and distractions... errrrr.

Also a very high student satisfaction...well up there. Not sure if the suicide thing is still true, but it certainly was fairly recently. Must be the rain.

Maybe it means the students there are competent to do the job properly as oppossed to other unis?

Despite me being there at the time, it was also rated as having the most attractive students.

The suicide thing is a bit of a myth, propogated by the publicity surrounding a couple of tragic incidents. One poor soul jumped off Bowland tower IIRC.

Anyway, lots of nice road cycling around the forest of Bowland, and the MTB mecca that is the Lake District is only a short drive or train ride north. And there's the north end of the Yorkshire Dales - about 25 miles I think. Plenty of stuff to divert you from all that colouring and drawing in Geography lectures.
