I can't imagine the finish will be very 'good', - it's very hard to get a good finish - on the original, the 'gelcoat' was reverse painted onto a smooth mould (then cast) , you would be paiting onto the 'tray' itself...

( in another life time I was a GRP laminater / mouldmaker of ... shower trays (these type) )

you might be better buying a new one, trade / surplus / secondhand...

I've seen it used on bath restorations in hotels and yes, the finish is shiny and bright but slightly dimpled, perhaps because it wasn't done very well. As above, I would prefer to refit the shower using Mermaid shower boards and a new tray because the sealing system is so good and mildew-free.
