Interesting start to the week this morning. I'm here waiting at a traffic light to go straight on, with another cyclist who I overtook on about 100m from the junction. I intend to go straight on to the next traffic light normally also wait here, then to head left up Stoneham Lane.

White vans pull up one behind us one in the other lane. For some reason one of the vans is revving like crazy, I look behind and I thought it was the one in the other lane. We start moving, I take the lane (left hand). 10seconds later stopped at the next light there is the same crazy revving. I now think it's the one behind me.

The lights change and I need to go left. I take a quick look behind and give the other cyclist a quick signal left. The van accelerates rapidly going straight on, almost clipping my rear wheel. Not sure how WVM got past the other cyclist, however that cyclist was over to the left so possible to squeeze past him I guess.

Pointless aggressive driving. WVM was soon at the next red light so no time lost due to my presence.

Just being on a bike on the road seems to make some people go mental!

It does make them go nuts sitting in all that traffic. A few weeks ago there were three of us (cyclists) in the ASL, with a taxi behind. No fewer than about 20 yards down the road (we were all fairly rapid at pulling away) was he on his horn - hooned past and pulled in at a layby next to some shops. He got a few words from me.

was thinking about this and the mentality of the driver...

I bet you he would not have done that if it was two girls on bikes instead of us blokes! Our bulging quads must have made him feel inadequate

LOL, I think this happens a lot with drivers, they get scared in case their girlfriends see our rippling muscles under tight lycra and realise that thy could do so much better
