Used Ribble twice in the last two weeks and they have been reliable, efficient and the cheapest in town. Can't fault them so far.

I stopped using ribble after they failed to respond to queries about a product I wanted to return. I still have the product 4 months later....I got a bit annoyed with them so just stopped using them.

Up until then I had been using them on a regular basis without too many problems - they did take a good while to send one item and I had to phone them to see where it was; it would have been good to get an e-mail telling me it was out of stock.

I have used PBK, Parker, Wiggle, JE James, CRC, Hubjub, JD Cycles since stopping using Ribble and all of them have offered a good service, fast delivery, keen pricing (if you take time to look), and have responded to e-mails. I do use LBS as well but the stock is limited as it's more an outdoor store than a dedicated bike shop.

I just realised how much I order for my bikes!

recently bought a rather nice and good value workstand from ribble - prompt delivery no problems at all. Order from CRC all the time too - second the post about packages that fir through the postbox - all delivered promptly. Only ever had problems with wiggle - caused by their couriers 'business post' - trying to contact wiggles customer service was a nightmare - not used them since.

Some people must be just born unlucky.

I ordered a 13 - 25 Shimano HG50 Cassette from Ribble using their website on THURSDAY evening. (16/4/09)

The goods arrived this morning. Today is SATURDAY. (18/4/09).

Ribble took £19.90 for this item including postage.

Evans were 'Sold out' of 13 - 25 and wanted £31.99 for the 12 - 25.

Who shops at Evans?

Ribble Still Rubbish at delivery see below:
Despite five emails to you and two telephone conversations, I have still not been given a delivery date for this cycle that I ordered on the 2nd August. I was informed that there was a 15 working day delivery period on orders after my first email. Since then I have had no response to the further four emails. On my first telephone conversation with your sales the person said he would email my back: he did not.

I am prepared to give Ribble one more week in which to deliver. If my cycle is not delivered to me by Friday the 7th September I wish to cancel my order. I will also inform the hundreds of cyclist on my database on what poor service Ribble provides and suggest persons purchase their cycles etc elsewhere ie such as Planet X. I will also pass a copy of this email to your manager(s).

Scary Zombie thread!!!

Seriously though that is pretty bad service. I've only used Ribble once and it was a fairly normal experience. Ordered a bike stand, received a bike stand without some parts, told them and they delivered a little bag of spares.

Have you sent that last paragraph to them as an email? If they don't respond by Monday I'd cancel the order rather than wait as it would signify they don't care to me.

As an aside what kind of database of cyclists do you hold?

Ribble are still doing fine by me TBH.

I've had small snags in the past, but they've definitely go their act together and are my first port of call each time these days.

Even though I could reserve and collect I don't bother as they've been bob on

Horses for courses. Ribble have always been fine, with me. Wiggle and CRC were my other vendors of choice but I won't be using CRC again, after the time it took them to replace a faulty shifter. Had a lot of problems with Planet X very recently too but most folk rave about them!

I'm tempted to say...Oh FFS, get a life. If you take 100 customers of an online retailer of cycling goodies...ANY online retailer, there'll be someone who's had sh1t service, maybe even been unlucky and had it happen twice.
Go to a proper bike shop then. It rarely goes wrong face to face.

Its the same with any online purchase...ive had problems with phones, tablets, bike parts, all sorts....once in a while, it goes wrong. Personally, i wont lose any sleep over it, lifes too short.

My bike came in the allotted timeframe, albeit with a holed front tube - a quick email and a day or two later two new upgraded ones arrived.

I've only yesterday put an order in for a CO2 pump kit, bottle cage and Cateye computer. Well see how they do.

Maybe the influx of cyclists since the Olympics had left them a bit behind.

Well said that man! This is the pay-off between shopping on-line and in-person.

The advice I've received from "a proper shop" has saved me a small fortune and on the odd occasion there has been a problem, it has been sorted there and then: no "live chat", no auto-response e-mails, no "press one..." etc etc.

Everyone likes a bargain, but in the long-term the picture is often different...

Ordered some shimano RS10 rims online from them at 8am Monday, the website said they were in stock. Track and trace said order was in warehouse for picking on Tuesday  still in warehouse waiting picking now Friday evening, not answering the phones, emails or faxes, I only want to know when the bloody wheels will be sent to me, 1 whole week without my bike....... Not a happy bunny... I knew I should have paid the extra £5 or something and went with highonbikes.....
