Poor old Ángel Gómez Marchante. Is that three or four consecutive years now that he has had to miss/quickly abandon the Tour for one health reason or another? He must have the worst immune system of anyone I have ever known of.
I'm glad Riccò will be there, though. I'm going to totally discount his chances at the general classification owing to the 83 kilometres of flat time-trialling, so I think he would be very well advised to go for stage wins.
It is nice to see that Piepoli will start the Tour for the first time in a few years, too - I'll nail my flag to the mast now and predict that he'll win at Hautacam.
