The ancient astronaut theory is pretty interesting, if a little far out. There's certainly some evidence for it anyway. Not sure I buy the whole planet X thing though.

Um, I know you quoted me (probably for good reason), but I really don't buy into the Ancient Spaceman idea at all.

I like Dawkins, but I think attacking religious beliefs is both easy and rude. The universe surpasses all understanding, even his. I don't think he has the courage of his convictions either. He seems to think that good can exist without God. Without God, good has no meaning.

Good without God means more..! It means we're independent beings and with an understanding of our social impact. Empathy. Good for God could just mean fear rather than inspiration on some people's part.

Neither do I. The archeological records have disproven such things many times over but the cranks keep bring it back up. Its too big a thing to have been washed away with time. I think the reason why the sky has always been important to religeon and why theres always an ascension is down to our history worshiping the sun, moon and stars. Not what came from it in a spacecraft:biggrin:

That's just it. It's as if some people are so focussed on looking for an extraordinary explanation that they just don't see the ordinary one.

There was a website linked to a few posts back showing "UFOs" in paintings. Most of these have misleading descriptions, or are even in some cases cropped to remove sections which would explain the unusual part. Its the picking and choosing of these pictures which irritates me. The belief that if it is painted, then it is a literal representation of what happened.

In which case the world was a screwed up place. Kings sitting on giant wheels, walking skeletons, and people holding concerts in eggs.

But of course, these are symbolic, which is not the same thing at all...

"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,: says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."

I do hope that's not meant to be a serious answer.

well that's the only one your going to get, if you want to know more read the Bible

I've read the Bible. I've also read the Koran. Neither have answered the question. If he/she/it says "I've always been here" surely even a God would be curious as to why and how and would have the imputus and nature to find out?

Having said that I accept you want to beleive so wont worry that you dont have the answer. Its your choice.
