If you think you understand Quantum Physics you really don't. The spontaneous creation and disappearance of matter in a vacuum is one of the weirder parts of Q.P. but frankly so many of the results of Q.P. are counter intuitive that it is one of the branches of science with real possibilities for a breakthrough insight in the future. It works, if it didn't you wouldn't have modern computers, but there is still a lot more to learn.
