I'm ashamed to admit that the only way I can remember resistor colour codes is by the mnemonic that ends "...But Virgins Go Without" - Black Brown Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Violet Grey White.
Thankfully in the era of surface mount components they just print the value on.
So, a 470 ohm resistor is yellow violet brown (4 7 and 1 zero) as a wired resistor, or 471 printed onto a surface mount, which might only be a few mm long...

*ping * the resistor mnemonic has just sprung into my mind in all its unpalatable glory from my 13 year old physics schoolboy mind.

& gotta be honest, as an ex Leicestrian with a bit of a yen for history, I'm looking forward to it.

Fair comment but certainly history is likely to have taken a very different course in England at least, had the Tudor's not gained power. The influence of monarchs such as Henry viii and Elizabeth i on the turn of events was revolutionary and they were not Lutherans. The power of the roman catholic church was not lightly to be disregarded then, nor is it now in other parts of the world.

Being a cynic....

I think this has been a brilliant piece of marketing, fundraising, and promoting an interest

York, Leicester or any other large city with a history will have thousands of skeletons under foot. so the chances of it being a merchant, or a serf is far greater.

That rather tasteless mnemonic helped me pass my physics O-level, our teacher just told us to memorise the colours/values which was nigh on impossible until my mates dad taught him BBROYGBVGW. Thankfully it is now redundant.
