Total scum bag!
Though to be honest I'm surprised there wasn't more thefts.
I was in the crowd at the finish line.
If I was locking up my bike in London to find friends/family or recover, my bike would be securely locked with a strong D-lock round the frame and cable through both wheels. My bikes only a cheap
halfords bike.
There were many £1000+ bikes there with budget/ flimsy looking locks. I was particularly horrified by a lovely
Ribble with one of those cheap 90s hoop cable locks.
If your spending that much on a nice bike, invest in the security to keep it safe!
I appreciate you may not want to carry a big lock during a 100 mile ride but if you've got friends/family watching give them your lock & meet them at the end.
Thankfully it's seems have been avoided apart from this unfortunate guy. Hope they catch the thief!
