Hi All, I was thinking of attempting this years Ride of the Roses on my Single Speed but would appreciate some advice on the route before I commit. I don't think my knees would appreciate anything further than the 50mile route, and I want to 'enjoy' rather than 'endure' the day.

We've done it last few years. Saw a guy (from Liverpool Mercury?) doing the 100 on a chopper!
The 50 is not too bad, couple of drags and lumps but I find the worse bit the final 8 miles or so, pan flat but featureless and a head wind every time!
Done the 75 last year and was not too difficult.....but I had gears!
It gives you a good route profile on the website with elevations.
Always fun, friendly and well organised.

Thankyou for your reply, it's nice to hear a voice of experience. I think my biggest obstacle would be keeping my eyes open on the train back to Chester afterwards

I do it with my father in law who's had a hip replacement. I'm no Chris Froome! But, as i said, we have gears!
It's a good day and the 50 is easily doable. The sign posting is good and the food stops are sound.
I'll be doing the 50 this year following pneumonia and lack of decent riding time. You will enjoy it!
