After seeing @Louch talking about it on FB this ride has really caught my attention, It's free, leaves from Carlisle and is just over 100 miles to Cramond and it's done through the night.

Looking about £9-£14 for a train from Fife to Edinburgh then down to Carlisle which is almost as cheap as a return from fife to Edinburgh

Why don't you just do the Edinburgh FoC Night Ride? will be roughly the same time and saves on train fares.

Sounds interesting. Will do my usual non-committal thing unless someone can guarantee reasonable weather! If there's a northerly wind, and/or rain then I won't be there . It looks like you can just turn up and go (which is reasonable given that it is on open public roads) so that would be my plan.

Aye fair comment, I think the photographer from last years Night Ride did both... back to back... who is now cycling round the world... fixed... (I was just trying to save Col some cash anyway, it's really none of my beeswax).

Trains can't be booked yet.But For cost of train down looking in advance just now, it's still cheaper than the edfoc night ride (£25) and you get chips at mile 45. Done the edfoc one twice now and fancy a change.

Got the idea from a guy at work, he says it's a really good ride and you get back in edinburgh much earlier. Which makes it earlier back to bed which is a perk on a Sunday
