There but for the grace of God.

Shamelfully, I cycled home from work the other night with a bellyful of red wine, and could have ended up in a similar condition, or worse: messed up someone else's life if I had fallen in front of a vehicle. I hasten to add, that I am not suggesting any alcohol was involved in this tragic incident. I am merely pointing out the fact that we are all vulnerable when out on the road.

Best wishes for a full recovery, my thoughts are with his family and friends.

Here for rides.
I nearly managed it last night between pub (2 pints and 250ml of red wine) and station.

To the read this is most sobering.

ghastly. And which of us can claim not to have had a near miss with a parked car?
I almost skated into the back of a near-stationary taxi once, but only because I was watching my reflection in his boot lid while following him, and not paying attention to his sudden deceleration.

Many years ago I remember jumping off an routemaster. But just as I jumped off, it sped up. Resulting me running into a parked car... friggin hurt like buggery.

Bad news.

I was once riding my Raleigh Roadster home in the rain, head down, when I found myself lying on the boot of a parked car. The owner was sitting watching TV with his back to the window and I got back on the bike and rode home.

Gee what a shame just my age too

I have cycled into a parked car - ended up splayed all over the bonnet of a red mini 30 years ago, no helmet and just got back on the bike after apologising to the owner who was in his garden. I suppose this guy was really unlucky as to how he fell

I was going to post an anecdote but reading of the cyclist's death made it seem irrelevant.

I find myself having more questions having read the newspaper reports.
