Thread about my recently brought ridgeback rapide in burnt orange for a very expensive £40.

All threads ok.

Cleaned it up ready for touching up a thumb nail sized rust patch by chainstay and by seat post bolt.

Will gather the parts I need 9 spd.
I gave ultegra calipers but they are on my Raleigh spdu bike...
Do I use my new superstar wheels or Ridley rc31 wheels??

Watching with interest. It depends what you're planning to use this for; winter Ridley wheels, summer Superstar ones?

1st world problem is I have 9spd on winter bikes steel and Scott CX and 10spd on summer bikes

Maybe I have then as dry winter wheels!

I commute on a 10-speed Avanti Circa in the winter; it's got three sets of wheels - cross, road and studded for ice.

The other bikes are all 11-speed; Raleigh, NeilPryde and the current Dawes Giro Zwift bike that'll be swapped for the Thompson Capella build I'm doing.

So yes, it's a first world problem.

Decisions - will I regret:-

Not using dp brakes - using the exage original ones, or do I kick the ultegra off my Raleigh bike?

Aheadset adaptor / oversized bar conversion?

Rsx double chainset or nick the triple off a v heavy touring bike frame I have...?

Short / long rd?? I have an slx rd spare.

??????🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔???????

Gear cables and quill stem adaptor arrived - let the build begin!

It's a tig frame from just before the headset revolution so I don't think a adaptor is too out of place, it's not like it's a Bob Jackson or Ellis Briggs!

Got the bike up to a rideable state.
Feel nice and sable not fighty or twitchy.
Cosmetic wood still to do with bar tape etc.
Chain is s/h so will put on a new one.
Gears are still to be adjusted as 9 speed but the block is 10 so needs swapping out.
