'Musclebound' by Spandau Ballet:

We're building fires that will burn until morning
The smell of books and hot stone surround us
Tough is the leather that's strapped to my skin
Strong are the bonds that we make

Purveyor of fine nonsense
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I really really really really wanna zig-a-zig-ah.

Charlene sang the most ridiculous, cringeworthy lyrics I've ever heard in my life, in a song called 'I've Never Been to Me'. The day after she was TOTP everyone at school was taking the mick out of it:

Sometimes I've been to crying for unborn children that might have made me complete
But I took the sweet life, I never knew I'd be bitter from the sweet
I've spent my life exploring the subtle whoring that costs too much to be free
Hey lady......
I've been to paradise, (I've been to paradise)
But I've never been to me

I thought Alanis Morriset wrote this song. She covered it, but I think it was a one hit wonder by Joan Osborne.

If God had a face what would it look like
And would you want to see
If seeing meant that you would have to believe
In things like heaven and in jesus and the saints and all the prophets

And yeah yeah god is great yeah yeah god is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home
He's trying to make his way home
Back up to heaven all alone
Nobody calling on the phone
Except for the pope maybe in rome

Isn't there a religion along these lines? Looks like someone wasn't paying attention in Sunday school.

Pretty much every song by REM is complete drivel (lyrically speaking) but sung in a manner which convinces you that it 'means' something.

i agree completely with the first half of that statement and disagree completely with the second half!
