Riding a Penny in front of 32,000 people...

...is what I'll be doing just before Derby County's home game on Saturday.

It's their 125th anniversary and they wanted something connected with their early years, so they asked me about their links with cycling and asked me to lead the teams out.

Having seen an Ordinary on the go for the first time a couple of weeks ago, I'd be spending a penny, or even a tanner, if I ever found myself on one of those buggers...

Unlikely. I followed Hilldodger for about 14 miles on Sunday, him on the Penny, and he was completely under control the whole time... Of course, knowing which hills to dismount for helps - discretion being the better part of valour and all that.

Comments from passers-by are hilarious, and split about 50/50 between "I wouldn't want to do that" and "Cool, gizza go!"

They offered but I'm not a footie fan. I'm also getting tickets for Leicester games because of our sponsorship deal but probably wont use them.

Well that was fun - only got to do one lap but most people seemed to be smiling and quite a lot gave me a wave. Didn't hear any negative comments either. Also had a lot of interest outside when I was unloading and waiting to be let in to the ground.
