I was told recently that it takes 10 repetitions of something for the mind and body to accept it as usual practice...or perhaps, for it to form a habit...I cant recall
anyway, it seems there is some truth in this.
I've recently acquired some motivation and after 3 weeks I've noticed that some of the hills on my ride have literally disappeared ...I don't think about them as I ride them, forget how I got up them when I get to work/home and don't even recall changing gear to climb some. They have literally just become part of the ride as opposed great big mental obstacles.
I admit I still have one "bigger hill" that I do apply some focus to but even that has become shorter for me as I now only consider the last bit to be "the hill" and the rest has just become the ride.
People have said it to me in the past and I've secretly disbelieved them...but it is true. If you stick at it this riding lark really does get easier.
So don't let the dark cold mornings put you off, it'll be worth it in the long run.
